Most of the people contributing to stormwater pollution are unaware of what they're doing. In fact, most citizens don't realize their are two different systems flowing underground, storm water and storm sewer. By educating people about these differences, and the impact pet waste, leaky motor oil, excess fertilizer and pesticide use, bare soil and other potential sources of pollution, we can make a huge difference in local water quality.

We are always looking for ways to engage new people. We've been known to drive around visiting businesses that may be able to make a few simple changes or educate their customers on ways to prevent polluted runoff. We're happy to work with businesses to provide presentations or workshops on ways to improve water quality. Rain gardens are a great way to inform and educate citizens on water quality and are mutually beneficial to Stormwater SMART and landscaping businesses. This is just one example of the many types of outreach we do.

We also work with various governmental departments to ensure their operations are in the best interest of the watershed. Educating public employees is essential to setting a good example for the general citizenry. You'll also find us at fairs and festivals, health fairs, expos, and other special events.

Our staff is dedicated to serving the best interest of our communities. We make every effort to partner with existing organizations on outreach and education efforts and minimize duplication of services.
