Hazardous WasteProperly Dispose of Hazardous Materials

We use hazardous materials almost every day.  They are found in products used for housework, gardening, home improvement, or car maintenance. Danger, warning, and caution signs are all indicators of toxic substances.  They can be found in everything from oven cleaner and floor wax to motor oil and paint supplies.  Use these products appropriately and NEVER dumped down the storm drain.

Other products include: Air freshener and deodorizers, bleach, disinfectant, drain cleaner, flea powder, floor cleaner, furniture polish, spot remover, toilet bowl cleaner, window cleaner, wood stain or polish, antifreeze, car wax or polish,  and gasoline.

So what should you do?  Find a local household hazardous waste collection program.  The North Carolina Division of Waste Management is a great place to start!
